Judy Michel spent the first half of her life in California, primarily in Los Angeles and San Francisco. She has since relocated to Zürich, Switzerland where she currently resides.
At present, her main artistic outlet is paint on canvas. Throughout her life however, she has engaged in photography, lampshade design and collage work, among others.
Judy Michel’s process is characterized by experimentation and curiosity. Her playful combination of acrylic paint with different materials such as stone dust, ash, ink or charcoal allows for surprisingly complex shapes and textures. The resulting pieces invite the viewer to take a closer look and get lost in one’s own mind.
